Department of Agriculture acting HOD passes away

MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs acting Head of Department, Lucky Monareng died yesterday.

According to a statement from the department, Monareng was admitted at a local hospital a month ago. MEC, Vusi Shongwe convened an urgent meeting last night to break the news to the officials.

“We are all devastated by the departure of Monareng but we must all accept that it is the will of God. He worked tirelessly for our people, and when given a task he executed it with distinction. We are living in a very stressful period and we could not even visit Monareng in hospital. We were looking forward to seeing him after he was discharged, but God decided to call his name and we must accept God’s decision,” said Shongwe.

Details of his memorial service and burial have not been finalised as the department is still going to meet with the family.
